The need to include PDF documents into MOSS has been a reality since the early versions of Sharepoint, if you had the chance to “play” with the Beta versions of MOSS you may remember that the PDF was a document format included, but due to misunderstandings between Microsoft and Adobe it had to be removed. Therefore we are back at the situation of Sharepoint 2003 were we had to install a specific iFilter form Adobe and do some more work to enable PDF files into the search.
