AKS in 64 bits environments

The AKS is a great acessibility add-on to Sharepoint 2007, but the available version is for 32 bit servers, and in 64 bit Server the feature won’t install.

Well, this can be done but we need to do it by hand . . .

First of all, copy the AKS folder from the Features (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES) to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES.

After doing so we have to install the feature using the STSADM, so:

open a command line window and go to c:\program files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN, then use the stsadm -o installfeature to install the AKS Feature (run stsadm -help installfeature to know the parameters first).

And that’s it, it is not that much work but it can be anoying . . .

I managed to install it but then I get the following error when I try to activate the feature:

Failed to instantiate file “aks_bl_Navbar.JPG” from module “Images”: The specified list does not exist.

    Any ideas?

It’s ok, I found the problem – other features should have been enabled first.
