Backup and Restore Web Applications in MOSS – Part 1 Backup

One of the most common ways to deploy a project from our development to the production environment is to use the Backup and Restore process (like we did in the 2003 version of Sharepoint), but with the new version of Sharepoint this process can be more complex and troublesome.

The backup process can be very simple:

Central Administration -> Operations -> Backup and Restore -> Perform a Backup

– choose (checkbox) the web Application from the tree

– Define the Type of backup (Full / Differential)  and Backup location

A Backup Job will be created and you can chexk on the status from the Backup and Restore Status screen.
